Respiratory therapy
With so-called respiratory
therapy, one has to differentiate between two fundamentally different forms of
therapy. On the one hand there is respiratory therapy in conventional medicine,
here this term refers to a form of therapy that serves to improve the functions
of the lungs and the entire respiratory system. This therapy can be carried out
by manual intervention or with the help of medication.
Breathing training is also part
of conventional medical breathing therapy. Here the patient learns to breathe
properly and thus to use the full capacity of the lungs available. Complaints
in the area of the respiratory tract, feelings of tightness in the chest as
well as many painful conditions are only caused by incorrect breathing.
Respiratory therapy can be a good help in this regard.
The second type of respiratory
therapy is less known from conventional medicine than from alternative medicine
and naturopathy. This is a therapy that is intended to serve as an instrument
for self-awareness. Basically, it is assumed that the human breath as body
functions has a very deep connection to all other areas of the body, mind and
soul.
From this knowledge, various
methods of respiratory therapy in the field of alternative medicine have
developed in recent years and decades. What they all have in common, however,
is that the form of therapy should give people the right breathing. This then
influences a variety of physically and psychologically important functions, for
example the function of the heart, blood pressure, the supply of oxygen to the
brain or the concentration of oxygen in the blood.
Breath therapy has also been known
for many millennia from Eastern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. For
example, a whole series of different breathing exercises are a basic component
of yoga or taichi. Other relaxation therapies and martial arts from Asia also
use certain types of techniques to perform the exercises better and more
effectively.
When should you do respiratory
therapy?
Breathing therapy can be very
helpful, especially for permanent or chronic problems with the upper
respiratory tract, the lungs or an insufficient concentration of oxygen in the
blood.
Chromotherapy
It has been known for many years
that colors have a special effect on the entire human organism, the psyche and
the soul. It is precisely this fact that is used in color therapy. Color
therapy can include many different elements, from the color scheme of the
patient's living space to targeted treatments with colored light.
Over the years, color therapy has
been divided into various forms of sub-therapy. For example, in addition to
normal light therapy, which is carried out using colored light (more on this
elsewhere on this website), there is also a form of therapy in which only
infrared light is used. So-called phototherapy, in which the patient is treated
with UV light, is one of the diverse methods of color therapy.
How exactly is color therapy
carried out in practice?
To determine the practical
application, one must first find out which type of color therapy is best suited
to the patient's particular complaints. For example, color radiation helps with
nervous tension, sleep disorders and inflammation in the body. Depending on the
application goal, different colors are used. For example, radiation with only
green light is said to work very well in rheumatic diseases.
There is also a form of therapy
in the field of color therapy based on the basics of acupuncture. The colored
light is bundled and focused on the acupuncture points on the meridians (energy
channels) in the patient's body. This is intended to stimulate the points
mentioned, whereupon there is a similar effect to that achieved by inserting acupuncture
needles.
It is also possible to induce
deep relaxation states in the patient using colored light. There is also a
special method of color therapy in this area, the so-called color meditation.
With this form of therapy, the patient independently paints pictures using
special plant watercolor paints, whereby the therapeutic effect results from
the gradual layering of different shades. This form of therapy additionally
promotes personal creativity.
Aura Soma Therapy is a special
form of color therapy that has become fashionable in recent years. It combines
elements of classic color therapy with those of Far Eastern treatment methods.
This mainly uses cosmetic products that are applied to the skin.
Nutritional therapies
A one-sided or wrong diet is the
cause of countless so-called civilization diseases. Today people eat too much,
too fat and too high in sugar and protein. One should think that healthy
nutrition is particularly easy today - after all, there is almost every food in
the supermarket around the corner. So people no longer have to use what they
currently have for eating, as they used to do, but can make use of the wide
range of food available in our modern society.
But it was precisely this
oversupply of food that made people eat an increasingly poorer diet. Finally,
the excessive use of fat and sugar in foods causes people's taste habits to
change over the long term. Added to this is the abundance of additives from the
food industry, for example flavorings or flavor enhancers. They also ensure
that many people no longer know the natural taste of individual foods. They are
often astonished that certain types of fruit or vegetables actually taste very
different from what is suggested by the wide range of flavors in ready meals.
Diet according to the principles
of naturopathy or alternative medicine works completely differently. A great
deal of emphasis is placed on ensuring that the ingredients used are as natural
as possible, so that people can again taste what nature intended for them.
However, this does not mean that all people suddenly have to change their diet
completely. In some cases it is sufficient to add certain additives to the food
or to realign something. For example, the most basic possible nutrition plays a
major role in the health of the human organism.
In the following articles we have
put together for you what options you still have to adapt your diet to the
principles of alternative medicine and thus live much healthier in the future.
